SupportIndependentReader-Funded

Help us do this work.

Quietly. Independently. For as long as it takes.

Animal Compassion NYC runs on the time of one person and the kindness of readers. There are no underwriters, no sponsored partnerships, no animal-product advertisers behind the scenes. To the extent that this project continues, it continues because people send it forward.

Where Your Support Goes

What this funds

A small project does small things well. Here is the actual work your contribution underwrites — listed plainly, not pitched.

Editorial

Research and writing

Essays grounded in the cognitive psychology of speciesism, moral disengagement, and the documentary record. Hours, citation databases, time off the clock.

Coverage

Field reporting from NYC

Travel to sanctuaries, attendance at hearings, photography of carriage horses, presence at City Council. None of this is free; all of it gets reported back here.

Infrastructure

Keeping the site honest

Hosting, domain, no-ad commitment, no third-party trackers beyond the analytics that help us see what readers find useful. The lights stay on so the work can.

If money is not the right gift

Other ways to send this forward

Indeed — to the extent that we are asking for help, the help can take many shapes. None of these are less valuable than a contribution.

Share an essay

Pick the essay that has stayed with you and send it to one person who might read it twice. Reach is built one referral at a time.

Follow on Instagram

The daily heartbeat of the project lives at @AnimalCompassion.NYC. Algorithms reward early followers; you are early.

Volunteer your time

The allied organizations we feature all need hands more than dollars. Foster, walk, transcribe, write letters — the list is long.

Eat one more plant-based meal a week

It is the smallest commitment with the largest measurable impact. Our restaurant directory exists to make the first week easy.

A note on what this is and is not
